Paper Abstract:
|
More and more we are hearing students as being described as consumers of education with high expectations for their University experience, not least the inclusion of technology as standard. A plethora of available technology should mean a substantive choice for academics but with ever increasing shifts in technology, the reality may not be that simple, not least because of the investment in technology already made by their own institution. Designing the pedagogy often becomes a best fit with the tools available. But the considerations are more than just the available technology. There are the risks and expense of investment in new technology; academics beliefs and expertise; the students own epistemological beliefs and expertise and industry expectations of graduates. All have a role when designing the pedagogy. This paper reflects on the approach to pedagogic design and the considerations that influence the decisions. |
